Every Weekday from 9:30 to 17:00, students will be engaged in rigorous academics in a subject of their choice, taught by experts of that field, and tutored by Oxford students.
All students will attend a combination of Lectures and Tutorials.
Lectures are delivered by one lecturer to a class of between 40-50 students, and will focus on covering the academic curriculum of a specific course.
Lectures are engaging and tightly packed with information, so that students can gain a basic understanding of the topic before moving on to explore it more thoroughly, either individually or in tutorials.
All Lectures will be delivered by current or former Oxford Tutors or
Post-Graduate students.
All students will attend a combination of Lectures and Tutorials.
Tutorials are delivered in extremely small classes, with one tutor facing a class of 3-5 students. The tutor will engage the students in debates and discussions, go over assigned work, and give students a chance to interact with topics more thoroughly.
With classes of this size, students will have the opportunity to constantly interact with their tutors, and tutors will be able to spend more time and energy on each individual student, maximizing the amount of knowledge that a student can take away from a lesson.
All tutorials are delivered by former or current Oxford students and scholars.
Outside of tutorials and lectures, there will be optional seminars and speakers events daily.
Seminars tend to be focused on specific aspects of studying, like how to write good essays or how to become a better public speaker.
Speaker events will bring in famous scholars or speakers from various fields to present their expertise to the students.
All students interested in applying to Oxford, Cambridge, or other UK universities are invited to attend optional seminars to learn more about the application process and how to maximize one's chances to get into their dream school. These seminars will cover advice on writing the personal statement, how to prepare for the OxBridge tests, and how to prepare for OxBridge interviews. All application seminars will be held by experienced OxBridge application councillors.
Additional one on one tutorials are available for an additional fee.
Students on the STEM side of the summer program will spend the first 4 days studying math and statistics, before choosing a course out of Physics, Engineering, and Computer Science to focus on for the rest of the Summer School.
Students on the Social Science side of the summer program will spend the entire duration of the summer school studying a combination of History, Economics, Politics, and Philosophy.
